The campers are beginning to get into the Camp Kesher rhythm. They know exactly what they need to do each morning, and hopefully, they keep up the good work for the remainder of the week. This routine is very important to the kids because, at every morning “line-up,” the campers get an opportunity to earn points for their color teams.
After breakfast, the counselors led their cabins in devotionals. During this time, each cabin had a small group experience with their counselors and cabinmates, allowing for more in-depth discussions and the opportunity to ask questions about life and the Bible. Once devotionals were done, the kids burst out of their cabins eager for morning Mishkan. At Mishkan, Toby Mann provided the “Israel Moment” by sharing the meaning of the chuppah (wedding canopy) and the significance of the tallit (prayer shawl) and tzitzit (fringes on the corners of the tallit).
Every morning, between Mishkan and lunch, the campers participate in their assigned rotations of horseback riding, street hockey, riflery, soccer, human foosball, Gaga ball, and the challenge course. After a morning of running around in the hot sun (today was hot!), the campers and counselors were ready for a lunch break.
When lunch was over, the campers went to their selected activities. Improv elective leader, Jessica Karp, expressed how comical her session was today. The campers were hysterical and many were fully engaged in their character. Later in the afternoon, some campers were disappointed when they heard the lifeguard’s whistle blow, cutting their pool time short due to thunder. But thankfully, our campers made the best of a bummer, and the thunder did not last too long.
We wrapped up the day with evening Mishkan. The prior evening, Zachariah explained that there is evidence revealing that God is real. His message set up tonight’s speaker, Robert Walter, for sharing how sin and shame causes us to hide, but Yeshua is the remedy, and the only one that can bring us out of hiding. Pray that Robert’s message will echo in the minds and hearts of the campers, that those in hiding would come out and live unashamed as new creations in Yeshua.
