On the fourth day at Camp Kesher, we experienced an unforgettable Yom Yisrael (Israel Day) celebration. Our morning began with the tantalizing aroma of Israeli shakshuka (a tomato-based stew often served as a breakfast dish in parts of the Middle East), setting the stage for a day filled with cultural immersion and spiritual reflection. During our morning devotion, we delved into the wisdom of Psalm 130, contemplating the profound themes of forgiveness, patience, and hope in the context of our faith journey. The morning Mishkan (chapel) exuded excitement as we engaged in a lively game centered on guessing Hebrew words, providing a fun opportunity to expand our Hebrew vocabulary. Amid joyous Hebrew song sessions, we delved deeper into the significance of Israel during the morning rotations, gaining valuable insights into the ongoing challenges. During our prayers, we asked for peace, the safe release of the hostages, and for the people to come to know Yeshua.
The camp-wide game of counselor hunt brought a surge of adrenaline as campers eagerly scoured every nook and cranny of the campgrounds in a quest to earn points for their teams. After the camp-wide game of counselor hunt, the evening Mishkan (chapel) transported us to an ancient battlefield, as we were captivated by the retelling of Gideon’s story, instilling within us the unwavering resolve to trust in the divine guidance, even in the face of daunting odds.
The culmination of the day was an exhilarating Tel Aviv pool party, a vibrant celebration adorned with mesmerizing Israeli flag decorations and aglow with the radiant hues of glow sticks. The day concluded with unforgettable memories etched in our hearts, attesting to the profound sense of community and spiritual growth on this remarkable day at camp.
