During our morning devotional, we reflected on Genesis 12:1–4 and discussed what God might be asking us to leave behind in order to follow Him. We also considered how we can trust God’s promises when taking a step of faith. Our theme for the week is “Follow Me”, and we prayed for the courage to let go of anything hindering our relationship with God. Our memory verse for the day was Matthew 16:24.
In the morning worship, we sang uplifting songs with hand movements, focusing on building our lives on Yeshua. The communal worship experience through music and dance was truly encouraging and a great way to internalize God’s truths. We also had a “Hebrew Moment” (brief lesson on a Hebrew word or aspect of Jewish culture), in which we learned about God’s promise to Abraham regarding the Land of Israel, reflecting on God’s faithfulness through the history of the land.
The highlight of the day was the camp-wide water olympics, featuring events like pennies on the bottom, swimming relay, and a cannon ball competition. The energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and it was wonderful to see the campers working together and demonstrating good sportsmanship.
After dinner, every cabin had the chance to showcase their creativity and teamwork by collaborating on a five-minute skit. The focus was on proclaiming the good news of Yeshua the Messiah to a Jewish person. These performances, a testament to the collaborative spirit of our campers, will take place at the end of camp during Mishkan (chapel).
In the evening Mishkan, we learned to follow the Lord as our shepherd and trust in His guidance and protection.
We wrapped up the evening with a fantastic movie, The Prince of Egypt, and sang along to the amazing soundtrack!
