Day two of camp started off hot with morning calisthenics. We all stretched and got the blood flowing through our veins to prepare our bodies for the day’s adventures. Then the highly anticipated team colors for the camp color war were announced: blue and white, in honor of Israel.
After breakfast, everyone returned to their cabins for a morning devotional on Psalm 23. During the devotional, the memory verse for the day, John 10:27–28, was announced. Campers had until the end of the day to recite it to earn points for their color team.
Next, we went to Mishkan (chapel) and led the kids in worship songs such as “Father Abraham.” Following Mishkan, we had morning rotations of activities with our cabins, including arts and crafts, boating, and more. Campers began their Israel-themed mosaic projects in arts and crafts, crafting items such as the Star of David, a pomegranate, a dreidel, a menorah, or the Jerusalem skyline. The campers displayed great creativity!
After lunch, we had our daily Shabbat time, when all the campers returned to their cabins to rest, clean up, and recite their memory verse. The cleanest girl and boy cabins will win a pizza party at the end of the week. Then, it was elective time, and campers participated in activities they had signed up for during registration, such as horseback riding, rock climbing, arts and crafts, and more.
The next activity on the agenda was the camp-wide game, a highly anticipated event when all the campers were divided into their respective color teams and challenged each other in a series of exhilarating games. From classic favorites like telephone and ships and sailors to an intense rock-paper-scissors tournament, every team brought their A game, adding a thrilling competitive edge to the atmosphere.
After dinner, the color teams had an opportunity to meet one another and plan their team song, which they will perform at the end of camp. During the evening Mishkan, we read Genesis 12:1–4, and the kids learned about the Lord’s promise-keeping nature. We were reminded how, when we follow Him, we can trust in His promises, even when we face life’s challenges.
We rounded off the evening with a peaceful tractor-wagon ride around the campgrounds. As we meandered through the serene surroundings, we sang our favorite songs and soaked in the breathtaking view of the sunset casting its warm, golden glow over the landscape.
