The last full day of Camp Kesher was incredible . Of course, we started off with stretching , prayer, and breakfast. For our Shabbat service, our worship team did an amazing job getting our hearts prepared for communing with God. Zachariah Karp did an awesome job leading our Torah service as we sang and recited traditional Jewish liturgy. Mitch Forman gave a message on “Sharing the Message of Life” as he emphasized the importance of sharing the good news with both Jewish and Gentile people.
After the Shabbat service, the color war competition returned. We did our annual steeple chase competition which involved many of the camp activities. The competition included running, archery, paddle boats, street hockey, reciting “Shalom Chaverim,” mini golf, basketball, rock climbing, swimming, a three-legged race, an egg toss, a baseball spin-and-run game, a centipede game, a wheelbarrow race, and a final sprint to the finish line. The competition was fierce and fun, but “Ice” team was victorious at the end.
After lunch and a time of rest the color war teams worked on their color war songs and painted amazing chalk murals on the street. After team “Fire” won the chalk mural competition, they went to the pool for camp-wide games. After the games, we had a Mikveh (Baptism) service led by Robert Walter where four campers went under the waters (with the blessing of their parents). One of the campers grew up in a Messianic home, but just professed his faith the night before when Michael Herts gave the invitation. The Mikveh service was followed by free time which culminated in a cookout barbecue dinner.
After dinner, we had a moving time of worship in the Mishkan (chapel). Then we did cabin outreach skits and the color war final songs. Although the color war competition was close, “Ice” team emerged victorious. The Mishkan (chapel) ended with a havdalah service led by Zachariah Karp and some encouraging words from the directors. We closed out camp on Saturday night with s’mores by the campfire, and then on Sunday morning we said our farewells until next year!
