Camp day two started with a welcome of sunshine. Campers arrived for morning calisthenics and the announcement of the colors for our color war. Two team colors emerged, representing the quintessential Jewish bagel toppings—lox (pink team) and cream cheese (white team). Each camper was assigned to a team and thus began the color wars!
After a hearty breakfast of eggs and turkey bacon, the campers were off to rotations including human foosball, boating, riflery, and arts and crafts.
The beautiful weather was perfect for our afternoon in the pool for Water Olympics. Both teams created seaworthy vessels out of cardboard to race across the pool. The Lox Team pulled out a win for best cardboard boat! Go pink!
Our Mishkan (chapel) service began with worship and some dancing. Our devotion focused on the Parable of the Sower and the Seed from Matthew 13. We encouraged campers to examine their own hearts, determine what soil they may identify with, and pray to cultivate a receptive heart.
After tallying all those who had memorized their Bible verse for the day, team Cream Cheese came in for a win for the most Bible verses memorized. Their reward was to “pie” one of the counselors. You could see the joy and delight they took in making their choice.
The evening ended with a hayride through the campground, games in the gym, and catching fireflies. Praise the Lord for another great day in the books!
