Camp Kesher | Day 2

MONDAY

July 6, 2026

What a beautiful day the Lord gave us! We woke to cool morning air, the perfect way to begin another exciting day at Camp Kesher East. Campers started the morning with energizing calisthenics and prayer before gathering for another delicious breakfast of French toast and eggs.

After breakfast, cabins met for daily devotions centered on Genesis 18:22–33. As campers explored Abraham’s conversation with God, they discovered an important truth: we should base our prayers on G-d’s character and be persistent in prayer.

Next came our morning Mishkan, where the excitement built as campers learned their three assigned activity rotations for the day. Whether creating masterpieces in Arts & Crafts, paddling across the lake during Boating, testing their aim in Riflery, competing in Human Foosball, conquering the Challenge Course, shooting hoops in Basketball, or battling it out in Gaga, they had a great time!

Lunch featured hearty hoagie sandwiches before campers returned to their cabins for our daily cabin Shabbat—a special time to rest, pray, and work on their memory verse of Psalm 119:9.  A camp record was set where EVERY camper memorized this verse today!

The afternoon brought our camp-wide Water Olympics! Color teams cheered one another on through a hilarious cardboard boat race, an exciting swim relay, and a crowd-favorite cannonball contest that sent water flying everywhere! The laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition made for unforgettable memories.

Free time followed, giving campers the chance to swim, create crafts, enjoy snacks, play sports, or simply spend time with new friends. Best of all, the cool weather cooperated beautifully, making it the perfect day to enjoy G-d’s creation outdoors.

As evening arrived, everyone gathered once again for Mishkan, where joyful worship filled the room. Campers sang, Israeli danced, and praised G-d together with contagious enthusiasm before hearing an inspiring message from Henry Monreal.

Speaking from Jeremiah 1, Henry reminded campers that God had set Jeremiah apart before he was even born. Although Jeremiah felt unqualified and protested, “I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy,” G-d assured him that He would provide everything he needed. The message was clear and powerful: NEVER SAY I am too young for I’m a youth, because G-d can use you!

Campers enthusiastically joined in as Henry challenged them:

What do we do when G-d tells us to go?
GO!

What do we do when G-d tells us to speak?
SPEAK!

The L-rd G-d still works miracles!

We closed out an incredible day with a classic camp hayride and an unexpected treat—leftover Fourth of July fireworks lighting up the night sky! What a blast! Day 2 was truly one for the books, and we can’t wait to see what G-d has in store tomorrow!
