Tuesday and Wednesday were a lot of fun. The competition is on. The camp is divided up into two colors, blue and orange, and for the rest of camp they will be competing for points. While there are many ways to earn points, the biggest “point getter” is to memorize their Bible verses. Tuesday’s verse was Psalm 119:130, and this morning’s verse was John 15:5. So far the Bible memory is going great!
Tuesday and Wednesday started with calisthenics and prayer, and then breakfast. Of course since Wednesday was backwards day pizza was served in the morning, and pancakes in the evening. After breakfast the campers met with their counselors for morning devotions, then it is off to morning Mishkan. After a time of worship, Tuesday Israel Cohen had a Yiddish Moment where he taught us the days of the week in Yiddish. Wednesday Michael Herts had a Hebrew moment where he taught us the Jewish origins and the meaning of Mikveh (Baptism). Then it was off to activities including street hockey (not in the street), Archery, Boating, Miniature Golf, Arts and Crafts, Ultimate Frisbee, and the climbing wall. After lunch and a time of rest the campers broke up into their electives and then a camp wide game of “Wet and Wild Kickball.” After Dinner on Tuesday night Michael Herts shared on Daniel Chapter 3 with Shadrach, Meschach, and Abed-Nego in the Fiery Furnace, and on Wednesday night Mitch Forman shared on Daniel Chapter 6 with Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Tuesday night ended with a night swim and Wednesday was movie night with a showing of Ratatouille.
Most importantly the campers are growing spiritually. One of the team Captains told her team that winning and losing the competitions is not as important as learning about God and growing closer to Him. How precious that was to come spontaneously through the mouth of a camper. It is our desire that this week the campers will stay safe, have a great time, develop lifelong friendships, and most importantly grow closer to God! Please pray daily for us as we live out and minister His Holy Word!
